Edward Halkyard Ferriday was a native of Oldham, Lancashire, England where he was born, 11 March 1914. Edward attested for the Royal Army Service Corps (Territorial Army) in Chelsea, London, 22 April 1939. Commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Royal Indian Army Service Corps, 3 January 1942, he embarked for India, 13 February 1942, where he subsequently saw active service in Burma. He was advanced Captain, 17 December 1943. Promoted Major, 11 March 1950, he transferred to the Royal Army Pay Corps, 14 January 1959, and retired from the British Army, 1 June 1966. Edward H. Ferriday is recorded to have died in Boston, Lincolnshire, England, 19 November 1993
