Leslie Radcliffe Wynne was first commissioned into the British Indian Army on 5 October 1940, at which time he was granted an Indian Emergency Commission (IEC -36) and the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Subsequent promotions were War Substantive Lieutenant 5 April 1942; Acting Captain to 21 August 1942; Temporary Captain 22 November 1942; The Indian Army List for October 1946, records Leslie as holding the appointment of War Substantive Lieutenant & Acting Major, with effect from 5 October 1940
Leslie Radcliffe Wynne son of Milton Hope Wynne (an Assistant Sation Master residnig at Kalyan, India in August 1914) and Mabel Merle Wynne (nee Walker) was born in Jhansi, British India on, 24 April 1914, and was baptized, at Byculla, Bombay in August 1914. Leslie married Edith Mary Peters at the Indian Hill Station of Mussoorie on, 1940. He was granted an Indian Emergency Commission on 5 April 1940, and posted to the Royal Indian Army Service Corps, He served in British India 1940-1945, for which services he was awarded with a War Medal and India Service Medal. Post-independence he initially remained in the land of his birth, and continued serve with the Indian Army. By the 1960's, together with his family, he had relocated to the United Kingdom, and is recorded as becoming a naturalized British Citizen on 13 June 1966 (Home Office Reference W83300). Leslie Radcliffe Wynne is registered to have died at Birkenhead, Chesire, England sometime during the second quarter of 1999
