The medal fitted with its original silk moire riband, & contemporary silver / silver plated medal mounting brooch. This latter retaining its hinged pin and clasp fitting

Sold together with:

- Leatherette plush hinged case. This with Belgian logo on inside silk panel

The inside silk panel of the case with the medalists / engravers marks for 'De Vigne-Hart', Graveur, De La Maison Dui Roi, 6 Galerie du Roi, Bruxelles 

Created by Royal Decree of 7 October 1916, the medal was issued for to recognise exceptional services performed by Belgian and Allied nationals in providing relief of the suffering of Belgian citizens and military personnel during the Great War

Basic award criteria was that the medal was awarded to those who worked and cared for Belgian victims of war for a year or more prior to 10 September 1919

The medal was widely awarded to British doctors, nurses and relief workers for services to Belgium during and immediately after the Great War

A choice example in virtually pristine condition, and scarce found fitted with its original silk moire riband and in the 'De Vigne-Hart' case
