James Callan Whitefield, son of Isaac Whitefield (a Plasterer) and Alison Whitefield (nee Callan) was a native of Biggar, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, where he was born on, 30 May 1875. Reference on-line Post Office Pension Records 1860-1970, accessible at the 'Ancestry' genealogical website, James took his retirement from the Post Office in 1935, at which time he was 60 years of age. James Callan was appointed 'Temporary Postman' on 9 June 1895, and was subsequently appointed 'Postman' - at is home-town of Biggar, on, 19 September 1895. James remained a Postman at Biggar, through to 1935, in which year he took his retirement with pension from the Post Office. Upto his retirement date (effective 19 September 1935), James had served a total of 40 years and 3 months with the Post Office in his home-town of Biggar
